Over the last week, we've watched the Star Wars series together as a family. I live with all boys. :) Luckily, I like Star Wars too. Even Grant is interested in them. After finishing all the Star Wars, these were the phrases heard around our house:
"Red Five, I'm going in!" OR "Use the force.." And lots of laser shooting noises and light sabor sound effects. Very entertaining. Even the pool became a playing ground of good vs evil. Grandma and Grandpa got into re-watching Star Wars too. Spencer heard them watching it in their room as he was going to bed and he was VERY distraught that he had to be in bed. What was distressing to ME was that he knew what episode they were watching by the sound effects! :)
When the Star Wars marathon was over, of course Cal watched the entire 'making of.' I must say, that was my favorite part! So it you're looking for an interesting date night that will keep both you and hubby interested, try watching how Star Wars was made, hearing about the 1000 reasons it never should have been a movie, and learning about all the special effects (that were actually real in those days, not CGI), how Lucas defied Hollywood and built his own film empire, and other facsinating filmmaking topics. What can I say. I'm married to a film guy and I can really appreciate it.
Then we got out the Star wars toys Cal bought on his mission in Portugal (when Star Wars came out again I think?). They were boxed for years, until I convinced him his sons would benefit from them instead of keeping them stored. Oh that was hard for him, but he finally agreed and now I have hours of free time while the boys play characters of Luke, Darth, Han, etc.

1000 reasons it shouldn't have been made...that sounds intriguing. I haven't watched that trilogy in years, but now that I have the Blockbuster Total Access.... hmmm.... :)
Oooh, yes... Dave and I LOVE watching that kind of thing. And we love Star Wars.
