Summer Fun

I have been so very behind in blogging. Reading blogs, writing on my own blog... I'm so behind. There are many reasons. School is out, summer is here, traveling, we're getting closer to a move, and Cal and I have been working on a project that I am very, very excited about. More details to come on that later...

Needless to say, so far we are enjoying all the things summer has to offer. Swimming has got to be our favorite. These are pics of a swim day at our neighbor's house. I love how you can see the summer fun on their faces. I read a saying once that said something like, "When your kids are grumpy, put them in water." Seriously, whether it's a pool, a lake, the ocean, sprinklers, the tub or even just a water gun, water can turn a sour face into all smiles.

Dallin enjoying the sun.

Mmm. Soggy goldfish crackers. Yum.

Dallin's summer fling.

Grant spent 2 1/2 hours in this floaty thing. He just floated around singing to himself.

...and occasionally went down the 'waterfall.' He sat in this thing all afternoon, until he tipped forward face first and got stuck in the water from his own weight! I was 2 feet away and got to him fast, but it sure makes your heart race to see your kid struggling under water.

What does Spencer do in the summertime? He spends all morning decorating a very large box to collect money...

because he set up a table to sell his toys to his friends. Yes, this Easter basket is full of exciting gadgets and trinkets, for 5 cents each. I tried to tell him that his friends would probably not think to bring their allowance to a pool, but there was no stopping him. So to compromise, I brought a bag of change and threw it in the pool for kids to collect. Spencer sold every toy and came home a happy (and rich, thanks to mom) boy. His money-making schemes sure keep us laughing!

That's so funny that you brought money to throw in the pool, because just a few weeks ago, on your dad's birthday, I was telling your brother, Stephen, about how your dad would throw coins in the pool for us to dive for. Since Danielle and I were too scared to open our eyes under water, he sectioned off a little area in the shallow end for us only, and gave us a generous dose of coins to reach our arms in after. He was so thoughtful. Clearly you inherited that.
