Updates

I have not taken very many pictures the last few months. And I have not updated my blog in awhile. So I thought I'd take the pictures from my camera and use them to update what's been going on at our house.

The boys finished their karate class and they LOVED it! The last day they got to break a board and they were so excited about it. We'd like to continue with karate maybe in the fall (can't miss baseball season!). During the last week of class, Spencer came into our room in the middle of the night after having a bad dream. He said zombies were chasing me and so he used his karate to fend them off. I thought it was so cute that he was using his super defensive skills to protect his mom. :)

Grant practicing his kicks.

Spence getting his moves down.

Grant is very proud of his broken board! Spencer wrote 'declarations' on his like 'I will obey my mom and dad,' and 'I will make good choices.' It was very cute.

Then we've been keeping ourselves entertained in the winter. Boxes make for excellent entertainment.

Spencer used a box to 'make furniture.' Here he is busy making a desk. That kid is never bored!

We've been really into games since Santa brought some for Christmas. Lately Spence and Grant have loved playing chess together. This is a 'Teacher Chess' game that tells on the pieces where that piece can move. Very cool. Such nerds! I love playing games (except for chess- not my favorite) so we've been playing a lot more together. I love that they are old enough to play! Our new favorite is 'SWAP' that my sister gave us. Even Dallin plays this game with us. Good times.

And when things get really boring, why not use old water bottles and duct tape to make jet packs wtih? You should see how fast those things make you go. All I see are whirlwinds racing around the house- sometimes I catch a glimpse of grey duct tape. :) My kids are quite creative, which I attribute to Cal. It's great, but sometimes I get so frustrated coming downstairs to a mess of something or another in the name of a 'project.' We go through tape like crazy around here. I swear they have plenty of toys!

We celebrated Cal's birthday and the kids helped me make him breakfast. Spencer was in charge of setting the table and this is what I found:
Who would have thought that straws, tape and scissors would make the best birthday card ever?
