To recap:
Here are the boys meeting their baby brother. Evan had low blood sugar levels and had to be in the Level II side of the nursery the whole time. It wasn't anything a constant drip of chocolate milk in the IV couldn't fix (ok, not really- just sugar), but it meant he had to stay in the nursery the whole time. So when the boys came to meet Evan, they had to look through the glass. Maybe this was the safest place for Evan anyway??

Notice the peach bunny to the left of Dallin on the window. My neighbor took them to the dollar store when she was watching them and Spencer specifically picked this out for Baby Evan. It's funny 'cause they all keep setting it next to his face proudly- like they know it makes him oh so happy! Too funny.
Just a few hours old. Our first few nights home were rough because we really didn't get to know each other in the hospital. You know, discovering which noises are hunger noises, poopy noises, or just grunts. The nursery always called me to come feed him. (that had its perks too). It's amazing how well you can get to know a nurse in the Level II nursery when you are there for feedings every 2 hrs out of her 12 hr shift! One nurse I got to know quite well during the night shift. She was awesome and I think we would have been quite good friends outside the hospital. She advocated for Evan to go home as scheduled instead of me being discharged without him and having to basically live at the hospital another day. Instead she nudged my doctor to let us take him home and come back to his office the next day for a blood test, since Evan had been weaned off the IV and his sugar levels were staying normal. Yeah for great nurses! We had some great 3am chats. I wish I could have taken her home in my pocket to entertain me through my night feedings now!
This picture makes me laugh because he is so stinkin' huge! It doesn't look right having him hooked up to an IV and monitors. He dominated the Level II side of the nursery by several pounds. :)Speaking of weight, there is a slight mystery as to how much Evan actually weighed at birth. We have a picture of his scale saying 9 lbs 2 oz right after delivery. But 12 hours later when they weighed him he only weighed 8 lbs 4 oz! That's almost a whole pound to loose, and he hadn't even pooped yet. His doc was pretty nervous about it, but he consistantly weighed around 8 lbs 3 oz the next few days. Conclusion? Either he somehow lost a ton of weight rapidly, or the nurses just weighed him wrong! How hard can it be to take a weight people?! Needless to say his birth certificate has to say 9 lb 2 oz because that is the official weight the hospital recorded. No doubt Evan's cheeks make him look 9 lbs! At his apt a few days ago he now weighs 9 lbs 4 oz anyway. My doc thought I should claim the 9 lbs because it sounded cool, and then he would officially have weighed more than his 3 brothers at birth. As the 4th boy you gotta be able to throw your weight around, right?
