You know you're having a tough day when at 5:30pm (with dinner done and still 2 hours 'til bedtime) you hand your kids a dollar bill and say, "Kids, get in the car. We're going to the Dollar Store and you can pick whatever you want!" And they yell, "Yeah!" And you think to yourself, "Brilliant!"
So you drive 15 minutes just to have some peace and quiet.
Then your kids pick out... candy. That you could have bought at the corner grocery store. And they eat it. And now they are hyper. And it's time for bed.
And as you type, your six year old falls off the bunkbed.
Sigh. All I can think to do is have a good laugh (and a bowl of ice cream). The boys are in their beds giggling after all. Crazy, but happy. That's what we go for around here.

Love your hair cut, but its sad to hear that you HAD to cut it because of a bad haircut... that is never fun! I know how you feel with getting tired of the kids by the evening, I feel like I get so sick of my kids around 5:30 6ish also... long days! we miss you guys and hope everything is going well.
Ah. Don't you just love sugar??
Sounds like you guys have been having fun!
Your hair is soo cute! It looks good both ways!
My kids would totally choose candy, too. We drove to Nevada today, and the treat they picked (of all the good ones in the store) was Strawberry Whoppers. They would not be swayed. I love the Dollar Store idea. Did Spencer buy something for his next business venture?
Ewww.... last night Justin was late home from work and I over extended myself just a LITTLE, LOL, on the freezer meals. I locked myself in my room and let them be wild anywhere but my presence. Then Justin brought home a frosty and some fries for them, but they had to "do" something to earn it. I called through the locked door that they had to clean up the livingroom and front hallway. :) They had been following me with their madness!! They were confused by the lock initially, but it was either lock myself away for sanity's sake or beat them!
I'm feeling for you this week. Ken is out of town all week so I'm trying to come up with ways to keep my sanity. I tried letting Caden and Ella sleep in the same bed last night, until Caden kicked out Ella. Then I put her in a pack 'n play. She cried for too long, so I put her in her own bed. She stayed there (thankfully) and Claire and I watched tv. When I finally went up to put Claire down and check on Caden and Ella (by this point Caden was sleeping on a self-made bed on the floor) I smelt something horrible in Ella's room. Poopy diaper! I suppose that might have been why she was crying. Poor girl. I changed her diaper and thankfully she stayed asleep. The kicker was when Caden and Ella decided to wake up at like 5:00 this morning! It was still dark outside! I turned on the tv and went back upstairs to sleep. :)
I think the dollar store was a brilliant idea ,and I just might steal it. If only I could get dinner done at 5:30 or at all, for that matter. I am so not into cooking at the present time.
